Anchors, rods and connection interfaces need their own checks
The channel itself may be correctly selected while the support still fails to match the design because the anchor, threaded rod, beam clamp or bracket is different from the approved detail. Each connection transfers load through a specific interface, so accessory selection should be based on the support drawing and substrate.
For concrete anchors, check the specified anchor type, diameter, embedment, edge distance and substrate assumptions through the project-approved system. For beam clamps or structural-steel attachments, confirm whether drilling or welding is allowed. These are engineering and method-statement decisions, not catalogue substitutions.
Procurement should therefore keep the channel and critical connection components within one controlled support schedule, even when they are supplied by different vendors.
A practical MEP trapeze-support example
Take a trapeze support carrying two pipes and a cable tray. The RFQ should not stop at '41 x 41 slotted strut'. It should identify the support width, rod positions, service loads or approved drawing, channel thickness and finish, threaded-rod size, nuts, brackets, pipe clamps and the anchor or upper attachment detail.
If a second supplier quotes a thinner channel with fewer accessories, the headline price may be lower but the scope is not equivalent. A support-by-support schedule makes those differences visible before purchase.
